Living fulfilled lives

Living fulfilled lives

At Carlingwark, we run an extensive activity programme and support people to enjoy days out in the community too. We have been recognised at the Scottish Care Home Awards awards for the creativity of our activity programme. By getting to know the people we support well, we are able to offer activities that meet their different passions and interests. We welcome the contribution of family members and through our Friends of Carlingwark Group, we receive feedback, support and ideas which helps us work together to plan special days out and celebrations.

We host a range of one-to-one and group activities such as arts and crafts, reminiscence sessions, gardening, quiz and games nights, and sing-alongs, as well as hosting regular social events, including performances from local entertainers.

We run digital technology sessions to enable residents to enjoy using the internet, including catching up with friends and family online.

Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for our residents and we work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal, while chatting and socialising with other residents.

Our chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made on site. We also support people who have specialist diets.

Person Centred Support

We are committed to providing personalised support that promotes people leading full, happy and independent lives. Our colleagues receive specialist training and mentoring.

We really get to know the people we support. To achieve this, we spend time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them, so that we can focus on the things that really matter to them.

Every person we support has a named key worker who helps develop their own personalised care plan.

Our approach to dignity has been recognised at the National Dementia Awards, where we won the ‘Excellence in Continence Care’ Awardf or two years running.
