Special Day for Grandparents at EachStep Blackburn

With Coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns keeping so many families apart, lots of grandparents have been suffering from not being able to see or hug their grandchildren. The team at Community Integrated Care’s, EachStep Blackburn Care Home were determined that residents in the home were able to celebrate National Grandparents Day!

Grandparents Day, which this year fell on Sunday 4th October, is a day dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the important contribution made by grandparents to the well-being and education of children within their family. It is an opportunity for family to show their gratitude and respect for the older generation and to honour grandparents.

The team at EachStep Blackburn arranged time slots so that grandchildren could have a What’s App calls with their grandparents. There was also Afternoon Tea with special cakes to celebrate the day, which everyone seemed to enjoy.

Jacqui Hodgson, Manager at EachStep Blackburn Care Home said.
“With all that is going on at the moment it was lovely to make a fuss of all our residents as part of National Grandparents Day and by the look on everyone’s face it was clear they enjoyed the day.” She continued “We are all working hard at this difficult time to ensure that residents are kept active and entertained during this pandemic. Celebrating special events like this are important for the morale of staff, residents, and their families at this difficult time”
